Plain, simple comfort.
I guess because I like to think I create with food, I forget about simple things. Like an artist sees an elephant in the stone or the eagle in the tree stump.
I see the rose in the radish or the cake in the oatmeal.

They are also wonderful as they are. When I have a simple salad, lightly dressed with olive oil, lemon and a sprinkle of salt I wonder why I don’t have “simple” more often.
The same for oatmeal. I always have to “extra” stuff up.
Simply cooked rolled oats or steel cut oats is the best place to watch brown sugar melt and milk to swirl.
Feeling fancy? Add cinnamon, nuts, dried blueberries, a pat of butter?
If you add just the right amounts to your liking (I add more liquid to mine than most do), it will make your whole self smile with mmm.
You might even close your eyes.
